THE GOSPEL:

  • Restoring Power to the Gospel The Bible says that the message of the Gospel itself is power. The multitudes were astonished with Jesus’ doctrine, not because His sermons was neatly outlined, not because He spoke with eloquence, not because of His brilliance but because His word was “with power” (Luke 4:32). Likewise, the Apostle Paul said, “My speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:4,5). . . continue

THEOLOGY:

  • God’s Love There are three things told to us in the Holy Bible concerning the nature of God. First, “God is spirit” (John 4:24). To say, “God is a spirit” would deviate from the Scriptures and be most objectionable for it would place Him in a category with others whom He created. God is “spirit” in the highest sense. Because He is spirit, He is intangible in the natural sense and fills heaven and earth. . . continue
  • The Sabbath One of the most common questions that a Christian eventually finds themselves asking is how the Sabbath commands of the Old Testament apply to them today. Many Christians teach that we are called to keep the Sabbath as the Old Covenant commands by doing no work on the seventh day of the week (Saturday). The two greatest arguments for their position appeal to the seventh day of rest that God took in the creation process and the Sabbath law being the fourth commandment of the 10 Commandments, the other nine of which are still binding today . . . continue

CONTEMPORARY ISSUES:

  • The Message Behind The Message Perhaps the greatest problem with Eugene Peterson’s Message Bible is that it presents a false Gospel that leaves Christians enslaved in the shackles and chains of sin. It perverts the Gospel and turns the grace of God into lasciviousness by adding New Age spirituality and subtracting politically incorrect terms such as homosexuality from God’s word. . . continue

  • Drucker’s Discipleship What the Emergent Church, Rick Warren and Bill Hybels Have in Common. While the Emergent Church movement seems to be a reaction against the large, plastic, church growth phenomenon, both movements have in common a lineage that can be traced back to business management guru Peter Drucker. . .continue

EMERGING CHURCH:

  • Emergent and the Atonement As a whole, the Emerging Church movement is anti-substitutionism. Certainly the Bible refers to the Atonement as more than Penal Substitution in terms of Christ being a ransom (1 Timothy 2:6), an example for Christians to follow (1 Peter 2:21), and a triumph over His enemies (Colossians 2:13-15), but this doctrine is foundational to the Atonement. . . continue

  • Love Wins book review In the preface, Bell begins with his motive for writing the book Love Wins, namely, because, “a staggering number of people have been taught that a select few Christians will spend forever in a peaceful, joyous place called heaven, while the rest of humanity spends forever in” hell (p.viii). This belief, he says, is “misguided and toxic” (p.viii). But is this belief truly misguided and toxic or is it the truth? . . . continue

PROPHECY:

  • The Lord’s Word in September 11 An outline of eight prophetic harbingers surrounding the 9/11 attacks. Just as He did with the nation of Israel, God Himself will chastise the nation of America in judgment in order to lovingly restore them to repentance and the forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Christ. . . continue

  • The Rapture Truth The Rapture will occur at the Second Coming of Christ (1 Corinthians 15:23), at the Last Trumpet (1 Corinthians 15:52), at the Resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17) on the Last Day (John 6:54, 11:24). The Christians alive and remaining on the Day of the Lord are those that will be caught up in the clouds (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). The Rapture will occur at the Second Coming of Christ, not before or after. This same day that Christ returns is also known as the Last Trumpet and the Last Day when the Resurrection will occur. . . continue
